FSSAI Renewal | Guide & Procedure

Food license is essential for every food business operator in India.  Obtaining an FSSAI license and getting registered under FSSAI is mandatory for petty food businesses, retailers, distributors, transporters, storage units, manufacturers, etc. In India, the FSSAI license is obtained from the regulatory authority for safeguarding food business that is the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.

FSSAI renewal is as important as getting a first time license for operating a food business.  The FSSAI license should be renewed within the stipulated time. Normally the initial FSSAI license is issued for one to five years. Every food business operator should renew the FSSAI license thirty days before the expiry of the current license.

1. Renewal of the FSSAI license

Before starting any food business the operators of a business have to obtain the license by submitting the FSSAI license documents and paying the FSSAI license fee. Similarly, it is essential to renew the FSSAI license before thirty days are left for the expiration of the current FSSAI license.

The consequences of non-renewal within the time are that rupees 100 per day are charged for the delay. And if the registration of the food license renewal is not done within the stipulated time the FSSAI license is termed as to be expired permanently.
